I have to say that this years Gathering held in Palestine was one Class Act after another.
Sean Aaron and Roni Storck have simply out done themselves. There are no words to express my appreciation for what they accomplished. The camaraderie of the membership never ceases to amaze me.

There are still some t-shirts for sale size X- Large. The cost is $15. Email Roni for instructions at ronni_stk@hotmail.com

One of the announcements made to those in attendance was that we are now officially a 501c3 non profit organization.
I want to assure all of you that there are no intentions of us pulling away from National.
We are still one organization.
We wanted to control and utilize money intended to be used for Illinois easier than it had been in the past.
We also want to be able to legally raise funds for our operational expenses, and to be able to donate to HOTH and HOTH type projects.

The other announcement made was an idea to both raise funds for Illinois and to also provide the membership with a fun and educational experience.
There are 7 National Cemeteries in the state of Illinois and 3 Confederate Cemeteries.
We are going to create a "scavenger hunt" if you will. There will be criteria established for each location which the participant will have to obtain and submit.

Example:
You sign up and send in a registration fee.
We send you a "flag" with a number assigned to you on it, along with the locations of each cemetery.
You travel to each location, at your own pace via your own mode of transportation.
You take a picture of the required item (monument, headstone or ?) with you and your flag in the picture to prove you were there.

Once you have acquired all of the required photos at all locations, you submit all of that.

Now, we haven't decided on whether to have a shirt, patch, button, challenge coin or whatever yet, nor have we decided on a design yet.

The Board of Directors is going to post a few choices for you the membership to vote on.

When you submit your completed package from all locations there will also be a small fee for the shirt, patch, challenge coin or whatever is decided to indicate the completion of what ever is decided to call this. It can be the ILNCT (National Cemetery Tour) or something similiar.

There will be a new thread started in the Illinois forum for this soon.
