Chapter Meeting Minutes
October 3, 2009 12:00 p.m.

President John Steffen called the meeting of American Legion Riders Post 1115 to order.

Pledge of Allegiance was performed.

Roll Call:
Members present were Bob Becraft, Mark Carr, Michael Craig, Terry Seils, Bernie Chase, Byron Baker, Karen Miller, Dave Dintelman, Zach Smith, John Steffen, Steve Wolfe, and Jim Petty. There were no guests.

Secretary Bernie Chase read last month’s minutes for approval. Byron Baker motioned for approval of the minutes. Jim Petty seconded the motion. The motion passed by all members present.

Introduction of New Members:
New members Steve “Turtle” Wolfe and Ted “Tank” White were introduced and welcomed to the chapter.

Financial Report:
Mark Carr reported we had $410 dollars in our account and stated that we had 17 members dues paid in full. Discussion was started about the $1 per member donation to the state, and doing a possible fundraiser at the Chiefs games next summer. This will be discussed later under new business.

Membership Report:
Mark Carr reported on the membership. The chapter has one new member totaling 17 members. It was stated that new membership cards will be made for new members.

Ride Captain:
Bob Becraft, reported that members participated in Remembrance Ride, Hodgie Run, Bash, and morning ride to breakfast at Chillicothe Legion on Sunday. It was noted that while on the Remembrance Ride the Princeville Legion fed everybody and their first drink was free. Bob Becraft purchased a picture at the BASH event and donated it to the Legion to be displayed in the Bunker. Bob will also touch base with Dennis Tipsword in regards to next years Hodgie Run. Thanks for the support.

Sick Call:
No sick call to report.

Old business:
There was discussion about possible fundraisers. They included a garage sale by Karen Miller. Mike Craig mentioned we would need more women to have a successful garage sale. Karen also mentioned about a biker friendly swap meet. Karen will follow up with the garage sale details and possible bike wash. Bob Becraft will tell Dennis Tipsword that we have enough ALT members to volunteer for the night shift at the state fair in August 2010. Bob Becraft reported the 2010 Calendars were all sold. The total money raised was $510. The cost of the calendars was $303.95 paid on Bob Becraft’s credit card. There was a motion by Byron to pay Bob from the money raised for the calendars and give the balance to Mark Carr for deposit in our account. The motion was seconded by Jim Petty. The motion was voted on and carried.

New Business:
Bob Becraft introduced discussion regarding changing the chapter’s meeting time and day. He stated that a better time to meet as a group would be on Saturday mornings at 9 or 10. Discussion followed and it was decided to meet on the first Saturday of the month at 10:00 a.m. Jim Petty made a motion, Bernie Chase seconded the motion, all yay’s to the change. Motion carried.

John Steffen introduced discussion about Rolling Thunder 2010. The dates are May 23 – 30, 2010. John has rooms he can get and needs to make reservations now. Discussion followed by members and John will get the room reservations. He needs to know soon if anybody wants to go.

Mark Carr won a bicycle from another Legion raffle. It is an Orange County Chopper Schwinn Stingray. He donated it to the chapter for us to raffle off at the Legion Christmas Party December 5, 2009.

Bob mentioned that Jim Petty and himself will purchase 2 bicycles for the Outlaw’s Christmas party. More details will be reported later.

Byron mentioned that we needed raffle tickets printed for the Bike Raffle.

Karen Miller mentioned soldier’s family’s food baskets.

Members decided to sell raffle tickets for bicycle at a $1 a piece or 6 for $5.00. Bob will make up the tickets, and post the raffle on the website. The bike will be brought to the Legion to be displayed.

Steve Wolfe mentioned about serving at the Chiefs game next year. He will get with his people. You have to wear black pants and they supply the shirt. Starts the next May season. We could make 5 to $600 a night. Steve will get with John and work out details.

For the good of the ALR there was no discussion.

Announcements:
Mike Craig son, Mark Craig, will be graduating from boot camp in the Navy at the end of this month.

Karen and Steve announced the Chop Shop Bike Party Girls and Bike Wash. Gary’s bike shop will be
open.

Byron Baker motioned to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Mike Craig. The motion was voted on and passed. Motion carried and meeting was adjourned at 12:49.
