Meeting Minutes July 12, 2009 12:00 p.m

President John Steffen called the meeting of American Legion Riders Post 1115 to order.

Pledge of Allegiance was performed and Moment of Silence was observed.

Roll Call: Members present were Bob Becraft, Mark Carr, Michael Craig, Terry Seils, Zach Smith, John Steffen, and Jim Petty. There were no guests.

Secretary Bernie Chase was absent for reading of last minutes. Bob Becraft took meeting minutes. It was agreed that the prior meeting minutes will be approved at next chapter meeting.

2 New members were introduced and welcomed to the chapter. Jim Petty and David Dintelman.

Mark Carr read the financial report. The chapter has 12 members. Our bank account is $380.00. Mark stated that we need to have members insurance name on file with the chapter as directed by our by-laws. Mike Craig motioned to accept the financial report as read, Terry Seils seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Mark Carr reported the membership report. The chapter just received dues and applications for 2 new members making the chapter total membership at 14.

Ride Captain, Bob Becraft, reported on the good participation our chapter had on the Freedom Run in Marseilles. Bob discussed with the chapter about the possibility of having a “State Rally” around June 15, 2010 for the Illinois Legion Riders. He stated that he does not know if the ALR has a state rally at this time, and that it would be a good idea to hold the first one at Spring Bay. Bob will talk to the Legion, and John Steffen will talk to ALR State. It was discussed with the chapter and decided to look more into this event.

There was no sick call to report.

Old business to discuss was led off with Bob Becraft presenting a motion to order 100 American Legion calendars for the chapter to sell as a fundraiser. The motion was seconded by Mark Carr. The motion was voted on and passed with 6 yea’s and 1 nay by Terry Seils. Motion carried.

John Steffen introduced the idea of having Bloody Mary’s on Sundays as a possible fundraiser for our chapter and the Legion. It was discussed and decided to hold off on this until we have more members to help support the effort.

John Steffen discussed the wording on the ALR patch for our chapter. The patch will have Post 1115 and Charter Member on the bottom 2 lines with Illinois in the top line. John Steffen motioned for this to be the wording for the patch. The motion was seconded by Mark Carr. The motion was voted on and passed with 6 yea’s and 1 nay by Terry Seils. Motion carried

John Steffen discussed the Rockers for our vest. The chapter decided to wait until we receive the patches and have a monogram business to design the rockers.

In new business, John Steffen said the AOA (Outlaws) called to give our chapter its blessing. John also introduced us to the chapter a ride coming up for the Canton ALR chapter. The Bret Dunblazier Memorial Ride will be on August 1, 2009 and if the chapter would like to participate. It was agreed on by many that they will try to attend the ride.

There was discussion about adding years of membership to our ID cards.

For the good of the ALR there was discussion about riding to Galesburg to pay respects for a fallen soldier. John Steffen will get more detail sent out to members as soon as it is released.

Mike Craig motioned to adjourn the meeting. The motion was seconded by Bob Becraft. The motion was voted on and passed with 6 yea’s and 1 nay by Terry Seils. Motion carried and meeting was adjourned.
